So many facial products contain a host of chemicals which can strip the skin of its natural oils. This causes the skin to produce more oils to replace those lost, making your complexion look oily.
There are some good organic facial products on the market whose natural ingredients are gentle on the skin, but here is a very simple facial scrub idea that you can make at home in just a few minutes.
All you need is:
Coconut oil is known for its antibacterial and moisturising qualities.
Bicarbonate of soda helps to regulate the skin’s pH level, so can prevent breakouts.
Together, these two ingredients can work wonders on cleaning and healing the skin.
To use this mixture as an exfoliating scrub, prepare it with 1 part coconut oil and 1 part bicarbonate of soda. (It’s not recommended to exfoliate more than twice a week as your skin can become red and sensitive.)
For a more gentle wash or if you have sensitive skin, use 2 parts coconut oil and 1 part bicarbonate of soda.
All you need to do is mix the ingredients together and apply to your face. Carefully massage in circular motions, avoiding the area around your eyes.
Rinse the mixture off with warm water and pat your face dry.
It’s as easy as that!
